This case study examines a fishing boat that primarily operates in the North Sea: salt waters prone to fouling. The vessel has a seawater cooling system consisting of three box coolers (one PS, two SB).
The skipper had been experiencing cooling issues for some time and was seeking a solution. Hard fouling repeatedly settled between the cooler bundle, causing cooling problems as the flow through the cooler was blocked. This study describes the problems the ship faced, why it chose Ultrasonic Antifouling, and the results after 31 and 23 months.
